  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Introducing RED Trivia for iPhone!

Glad you listened David. I also thought it was a great idea but couldn't bring myself to do it at 5 bucks for an app, I think Terry explained it well. But I will definitely pick it up in the next few days at this price. Thanks for your work on this and I look forward to expanding/testing my RED Knowledge ;)

Well, the public and market appear to have spoken.

Everyone seems to love the app but hate the price.

Based on your feedback, I have lowered the price to $1.99, available now.

I hope you all enjoy it :)

Well David, I'm still glad to be an early adopter and pay a premium for it...shit, doesn't that just sound familiar around these here parts?

Anyway, let us know if there'll be any updates. I'm just about to start shooting my first feature as a director (on the R1MX) and your app has been a kind of rapid fire meditation for me in the few quite moments I have to myself during the day :)

Well, in the spirit of RED I am going to be completely transparent :).

Curiously enough RED Trivia sold six units on the day it was introduced for $4.99 and eight units the day after for $1.99. So it looks like the price is going to go back up to $4.99 pretty soon, since it was generating significantly more revenue at the higher price. I wasn't expecting huge sales, but I had a thought that under 10 sales meant bad news and over 20 meant the price decrease was a clear success.

I feel a little like the director of Heaven's Gate considering the amount of revenue that I got per unit of effort, but I can't help but note that the few who have bought it and commented here seem to really love it. Like Heaven's Gate, it may obtain more respect and more positive reviews over time.

Just call it a classic app, for the few and proud who are true REDusers :). It might help for someone who likes it to write an app store review because people tend to be suspicious of apps with no reviews at all.

I wonder if Zac broke down and bought a copy, or if he's out there waiting for the price to go to $0.99. Judging by current results I have a hard time thinking the app would do well at that price.

I really love the app, and I'm proud of how well it came out. But with these kind of revenue numbers, it's tough to justify doing anything more, but I'll probably add more questions from time to time, like "When was the first EPIC-X delivered to a customer?", just because that takes little other than reading REDUser, which I will continue doing anyway.

I would once again like to thank those who bought it for their support, and those who commented for their feedback. I'll keep the price at $1.99 for a few days and see what happens - just realize that if things stay as they are, the price will go up, not down.

David

Sorry to say (because I love a good fun app) but this is really a useless app at it's core. It provides nothing but well trivia of a camera company? I like RED but I don't see what an app like this does other than give Timmy something to talk smack about on Facebook. Don't mean to be harsh but I just don't get it, at all and judging by sales no one else does either. And guilt tripping people into trying to get sales is bad taste.
