This film is the product of one man filming for 35 hours on a 12.9 mile course through the German Countryside.

This one is special for me... Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to visit the Nürburgring to see cars driving the Nordschleife. A little over a month ago, I got to cross that one off my bucket list. To say it was an incredible experience would be the biggest understatement. Such beautiful scenery, incredible cars and hospitable people.

Shot on RED Epic w/ Canon L Glass. Timelapses were shot with 5D MkIII on a Kessler Revolution V2 Head.

Would love to hear your input.

Nice job on this. Some really nice shots in there. I would have liked some real time action though...and to hear real sounds of the car. I think most car enthusiast would agree, adding that would have added much to the piece IMO.

edit: and Toby...even though I'm sure you totally meant nothing by it and your video is indeed very nice, I do find it a bit rude to post your clip here. You can easily start your own thread (if that wasn't already done). Just my opinion anyway.

Put it back on your bucket list. This ist IMHO even better for petrol junkies: http://www.nuerburgring.de/events-tickets/oldtimer/avd-oldtimer-grand-prix.html

Cheers,

Hans

PS: If you have, put some sound in. Let the the car's sound play backwards but we (the car enthusiast) NEED sound. I once owned a copy of a tape that consists only car sounds. One of the best was the Porsche 917 Kurzheck just in front of a turn letting the engine (12 cylinder six flat air cooled) cry while a great break and double-clutch performance.

Saw the real thing a few year later on the the Ring. You had to open your mouth to bare the sound. Jesus.

Give the film some real sound.

Darren- I hear what you are saying. I did another piece from the week before at Le Mans and used sound from the event. Link here The thing of it is, if I had some long in-car pulls of the car going through the gears, it might fit better. The reality is its just a lot of car fly-bys. Since I chose to do everything in slow motion, the sounds didn't look right with the motion of the cars. Also, most of the places around the track that I shot from had some sort of techno music blasting from a homemade stage on the turn... :) This is why I chose to only include some distant sounds to set up and close the piece... The sounds were when I was walking back to my car along the rear straightaway- recorded with my iPhone. :D I had an H4n that I was using to record for the entire event, but in this case I left it in the car and only had my iPhone.

Thanks for watching guys.

Oh, Toby- I didn't mind that you posted it... Great work. How big of a team did you have?

Oh lol - I need to look at the names before hitting reply and deleting links ;D I've confused you with darren. However, it's a thread about your video which is pretty cool.

I'm shooting motorsport productions on the ring for almost 8 years now and all things are a bit "routine" for me. You know your spots and where to get the "safe shots". That in mind it's always great to see a new perspective of somebody that explores the race and track with "fresh eyes".

Our team was pretty small this year. 2 Cameras with 4 People crew. Main intention was to shoot footage for upcoming projects of the client.

Nothing special, first commercial i shot using my RED One MX! The interview was shot on the RED, obviously not the aerial

Yeah, this one needs a new thread. This has nothing to do at all with racing or the Ring... lol
