  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interesting statistic?

Just read the whole World tour thread and it suddenly struck me that Jim should figure out which country had the most RED Cameras per capita and then maybe go visit them. I'm saying this because there's a pretty good chance that's it's a Scandinavian country, maybe even Denmark, where I'm from. (It feels like everyone owns a RED here, even if everybody has this Alexa fad going)

But also, it could be a very interesting statistic in general to look at if RED would disclose that kind of info anyway. You don't have to mention numbers if that's a problem, just places.

It could give you a pretty good idea of who is first movers on all things RED.

Cheers all
Jesper

You don't go through the time and effort to preach to the converted. ;-)

It's odd that there's no country listed in Scandinavia what so ever. In Sweden the industry is almost only using Red cameras.

On the other hand, adoption rates may give you a good sense of where you're most likely to get future acceptance (and future sales). Assuming, of course, you're not at or near 100% penetration of your target.

Actually there's a lot of B.S. and misinformation going on here in DK. Post-houses doing head to head tests with the Alexa that seem legit on the surface but to the technically knowledgeable seem biased. And the problem is that a lot of people have no idea so they just perpetuate the B.S. and all of a sudden it becomes the truth. "Oh, RED is more difficult to post or has lesser image quality than the Alexa, not quite the "texture" of film, and is a far more difficult camera to use". So even if we have a lot of RED's here it's still extremely difficult to debunk the misinformation and have a serious talk. Too many people with too many vested interests here. Guess it's not that different from anywhere else. Just wish we could get Jim and Co over here putting some of the worst B.S. to rest.

peace out
J

I recall a Scandinavian film school found a presentation of HD versus film by an exec of an international film manufacturer so obviously biased toward film and the results so puzzling they decided to do their own test.
Ao keep your chin up and keep plugging away with real world tests posted by those that don't have a vested interest in one system or another.
