I have been with Hartford for my production insurance, worker's comp, etc.. I have been VERY VERY unhappy with them.. Talk about FEE HAPPY! They charge $30 at the drop of a hat (Or my wallet actually)

I want to go with a different company / agent.. I want good value and a company that actually FILLS claims without looking for ways around it.

Any advice would be wonderful

Jay

I got my insurance through Fractured Atlas, but haven't needed to file a claim yet, so...

Jay,

I'm with the Heffernen Group in Los Angeles, CA. Been super happy but no claims filed to date. I just signed an agreement with them that if gear is stollen from my vehicle they will pay even if there is no sign of "break in". So basically if I'm stupid enough to leave my car open and my gear gets lifted, they will cover the loss ...... in theory! Also they do not require destroyed gear to cover. Shooting on a boat and camera sinks to the depths .... still covered ..... in theory!

I'm with Heffernen group and also and they seem quite good.

I am in the process of making a claim - red got dropped on the lens - Cracked and bent my 10mm Zeiss and dented back of redone - r1 still working fine but will need a quote to replace back metal piece and one button. Sent the lens off to Arri new York but haven't gotten estimate back yet.

Will let you know how it goes.

Michael,

I'm interested to find out how it goes. Same company and all.

I have Heffernan, recently had a decent sized claim (~$5k)...filing the claim was quick and easy, no attempts to deny coverage. Best of all, they seem to handle a lot of R1 owners, so at least somewhat familiar with gear ownership and our line of work. Highly recommend them...

I've been with Taylor & Taylor in New York for at least 10 yrs. I lost an Aaton XTR Prod body on an International flight (camera was purposefully smashed to pieces by security or luggage handlers) got a check for over 20K in less than a week. Don't ask me how but my rates went down a little bit the next year. I'm very happy with them.
