Installing firmware without a Red CF?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone at Red could tell me if it is possible to install firmware updates with any old CF card? I ask because I am waiting for the 16 GB cards and so I won't have a RED CF card for awhile.

From what I understand as being the only way do to it, you don't install firmware with the CF cards, but the flash cards...they are the kind in point and shoot camera's. SD cards....


EDIT: Apparently people are updating firmware with their CF cards as well....

I bought some small cf cards (2Gig) and have used them to update the firmware.
But I have heard of others using SD cards, supposedly it's just slower.
I'm depending on this working as I just paid for my second camera, which I ordered without a CF module.

You can use SD, but I don't believe you can do the black shading without a CF card though.... Which is important after upgrading.

You can also perform Black Shading with a RED-DRIVE...

Some additional info, when you do a firmware upgrade from an SD card, the sutar file is removed from the Upgrade folder. So, you can only upgrade one camera at a time and then you need to re-copy the sutar file onto the SD card. I discovered this on a multiple camera shoot last week.
