  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Inside RED...

G is a big reason I am in! He graciously has come to Toronto to speak at the FCP group a few times, has what seems like limitless knowledge about anything pixel related and beyond that he is a loving father and polite gentleman.

I am continually surprised at what he can accomplish. Way to go Graeme!

David

I would like to add my sentiments as well... Having been a fan of Graemes' work, this legitimised the RED project for me in the early days when not much was known. I cannot wait to reap the rewards of all their very hard work.

Cheers from the little guy...

This is the news I've been waiting for - way to go Graeme.

We're celebrating here with Graeme Crackers & Milk, in your honor.

Then we're toasting Jim with Corona & Cervici. weird combination I know but we do weird things on this rock.

Congrats guys - a great day indeed.

Aloha,

Keith

I also realised Red was real more than a year ago when Graeme phoned me after I emailed an emergency tech support issue to do with his great plugins (my errors entirely) and he mentioned his time now being taken up with the Red project. That gave me the confidence to plunk down a deposit.

A great guy in a stellar team! In case some people here don't know about them, there is not a day goes by I don't use Graeme's Smart De-interlacer in Color, and not a week goes by I don't use his De-noisers (all part of the same bundle), and at least once a month we use his Standards Convertors for FCP. Bang for buck the most useful tools we have ever bought. Have a look at http://www.nattress.com

Me, too Graeme.

My approach:
1. Hey, some crazy dude thinks he can make a cam who can beat'em all
= Smile, curious.

2. Graeme is onto the codec and workflow
= deposit down

Maybe Graeme can write a plug-in for FCP that will "magically"
re-focus a shot that was not in focus...just kidding,
but really I use Graeme filters on a daily basis and cannot
wait to see "magic focus" on the RED.
Hey there is a good slogan....
"Our competition thought RED was hocus-pocus,
wait to you see our magic-focus!"

That's not kidding. Ever heard of blind deconvolution?

Wow, you're right !

Looks quite impressive :
http://www.focusmagic.com for example is a sharpening software based on deconvolution.
Too bad it only works for stills, is there a similar one for moving images ?

Of course it's far from being perfect, but still impressive, and much better than using an "unsharp mask".
Anyway, for a small amount of blur, it seems to work fine !

Another (free) program, also for stills : http://www.hamangia.freeserve.co.uk/

Is this the sharpening technique used in Redcine ?

I was one of the lucky ones able to visit RED on Thursday....

Graeme's magic focus assist.....Amazing!

(I could see soo many situations where having the magic focus feature would be a savior)

2K windowed at 4fps....Bad Ass!

(Benny Hill show)

2K windowed at 72fps....Even More Bad Ass!

(Slow mo-drooling)

Timelapse shooting with a possible one second exposure time.....limitless artistic possibilities!

(Skyline night photography, clouds, melting objects, flowers, limitless)

I was just amazed at how much is being done at RED in so little time.
There are some truly gifted and all around great people working at RED.

Glad you enjoyed it. I've not seen it in camera yet myself, and I know we all at RED want to make some GUI changes to it before we unleash it on our users....

Excellent find...I had no idea focus magic could be real.....

2k at 1-72fps :) bad ass.

We were recording 20 minutes of 2k at 24fps on a 8gb card.. even more bad ass.

Graemes focus assist.. revolutionary.

As Jim states, It was a very good day at Red :)

Holy cow... amazing stuff! :sorcerer:
