Hi there,

anyone who made an experience to engrave parts of the camera with your initials, company name, etc.?

just thinking about marking parts like drives, evf, etc. to easily seperate different sets of equipment on multicamera shoots, mixed rental situations, etc.

any thoughts?

regards,
martin

sell?

I thought about getting mine engraved, but there are A LOT of pieces. Ultimately, I settled for colored, heavy-duty labeling tape and my label maker. The labels are not impossible to remove, but pretty damn difficult-- certainly not going to come off on their own.

It doesn't prevent anyone from walking off with your stuff, but neither will engraving.

I remember seeing a security marking system, which used a pen with special ink that only showed up under a UV light source.
I was thinking about it for my stuff
Although it wouldn't be any good for immediately identifying your kit, labels are probably best for that, could be a good back up identification system if your kit gets stolen.
I'll post the link,if I can find it again.
Tom.

You can get some special labels that use some sort of advanced gluing system which is impossible to get off. When removed, it leaves a security warning with a personalized code.

Ask your insurance company, they should be able to help you with a supplier.

But what about engraving? How would it affect the coating on the body? How does it affect the warranty? What would be the best way - drimmel or laser?

You should see a machinist or professional engraver to have it engraved with a CNC machine. Shouldn't be too expensive if it's just text.

thank you all for your helpful replies.

i was not thinking about engraving the red "herself", because there is the serial number and pin, etc. but about accessories like red drives or evf.

i already checked with some local houses, they would do it for 15 euro the piece of equipment.

anyone from red about the warranty?

best wishes,
martin
