Hello Guys

I'm not sure if questions like mine have been answered somwhere already, but after a quick research i couldn't find.

Anyway, here's what i want:

I'm what you could call a RED-fan who's missing the money to join the RED-Owners Club. Although i like to visit this page and follow what's happening at the RED company (and maybe some day i'll have the money to buy myself a Scarlet and be part of this wonderfull comunity). By then i'll have to pass the time by doing other things and one of them is studying journalism and PR. For this study i have to write a scientific work about corporate communications and RED is the corporation i want to analyse for this work.

So my questions are:
Does anybody know if somwhere in this forum are available some informations about the RED company?

e.g.
- how many Red ones they've sold until now
- how many people are working for red
- when RED was founded (English Wiki says 1999, german wiki says 2005)
- how big REDs revenue is
...

i'd be very glad, if someone could help me find the answers to questions like this ones.

best regards
Michael Steiner

This are only questions that Red can answer, any one answering in their behalf will be not correct, since this information can be only known by Red, as others can only speculate, other then what is common public knowledge, such as when it was funded.

So my suggestion for you is to contact Red.

As a private company they do not have to publicly disclose their earnings/finances, or any fact for that matter. That's all between Jim, his accountants and at least once a year the IRS.

Said it all there. RED doesn't have to disclose any of the above other than there's approx 8000 RED Ones sold.

You could however, get creative, and use this info to incorporate at least some financial data. About 8000 R1s sold times $17500 = $140 million generated from R1 body sales alone.

but who can say what they've put into R&D, Red Ranch, support staff, etc etc etc. I think one just has to accept that this is all unknowable unless they want it otherwise...

I'd suggest studying a publicly traded company instead- anything that's on a stock exchange. Unless Jim Jannard happens to be your uncle you will most likely never get the information you're looking for from RED. They are inclusive but they are also very much in control of what information they choose to disclose and most of what you have asked about falls under the not likely to be disclosed category.

Thank you all very much for this inputs and suggestions. You actually confirmed what i expected.
It remains a fact that RED's way to communicate is a very special one, and that makes RED so interesting for a communication-study.
Noah, yo're probably right, but it's much more boring to analyse one of this standard companies instead of the way cooler RED, whit its personal and obviously succesful style to communicate.
So i'll remain at RED.
