just saw the movie.
Curious as to the look.
They def had an over exposure thing going (which i get is the look they wanted)
however it looked like the over exposure has some sort of softness to it..
what filter would do this?
soft fx?

do you mean that heavy diffusion around light sources? I want to say it looked light a post effect to my eyes.

Okay, just watched the the trailer in HD. I guess they nailed the 70s TV look; lots of lens bloom in blown highlights and heavy diffusion pretty much everywhere else. Luckily, you don't need to polish the coating off your lenses or daub vaseline on your filters as it's all quite straight forward to mimic in post.

Stated before that they used Pro Mist filters...

Good Box office no's too!

These are the weekend box office estimates according to Box Office Mojo. Final figures are available on Monday.

1. "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs," $30.1 million.

2. "The Informant," $10.5 million.

3. "I Can Do Bad All By Myself," $10 million, $37.9 million to date.

4. "Love Happens," $8.4 million.

5. "Jennifer's Body," $6.8 million.

theatre was pretty full when I saw it. Anyone know the budget?

Saw this in a review in a forum, certainly not a shot at the film or RED as the reviewer actually loves the movie, it was just his description of how the movie looked and it made me laugh.

"everyone looks like they've been dipped in a pitcher of Tang"

Actually you stated before that he used a Double Fog filter, unless I missed a later post where you corrected it to ProMist. Looks like a Double Fog to me, just because the halation is on the blue-ish side, which is a characteristic of Fog and Double Fog. But of course if the window light is colder, then the halation can be blue-ish even on a ProMist. Here was your first post on the topic:

yes, David, I too remember Jim saying it was a double fog. I saw the movie on Friday and that is what I was thinking the whole time I was watching.

Regardless, I really liked the movie. When I saw clips on TV I didn't like the look too much but in the theater (digital projection) I thought the picture looked prefect for the feel of the movie.

My bad... still depressed over the USC/WA game. It was Double fog.

Jim

I saw this the other day and thought it was a hilarious movie! The acting was just excellent. And the whole look of the film was just perfect for the movie.

I thought it was a huge sucess.

I live here in Regina Saskatchewan, which, surprisingly enough, was actually mentioned in the movie. The whole audience got a kick out of that and seemed to enjoy the movie throughout.

I feel that one. I'm still licking the wounds from the GT loss to Miami last Thursday.

I should be seeing The Informant soon. :}
