How do you start a poll? I want to see how many people actually use L&T. L&T vs any FCP workflow not L&T.
I have never met anyone who liked L&T for Red Footage.
Guys are saying it is so fast and native, everyone who uses FCP should be using L&T. Why aren't they?
Dusty
I have been using L&T on 3 projects now (1 short and 2 features, and it has worked for me without any major problems.
L&T to Pro Res, edit, MM to Pro Res Codec, Color, render out whatever you need.
Here and there there are clips that don't get done the first time around, and I'll do it again.
In one of the features I had 4 clips that would just not budge, so I used reveal in finder, threw them in L&T manually and then went reconnect media.
Hopefully the new release will make the process more reliable, but it seems simple enough to me.
Not any more problems then with an auto conform on an AVID or FCP, when you have tape sources.
Maybe I'm missing the point, but you only do it once at the end of the project onto a separate drive so I can hand it over to the "specialist" and get a great color correction (and resizing to whatever size I need). He gives it back to me as let say PRO RES HQ, I reapply the non supported FX and line up my mixed audio, and render out my "Master".
That way I can use a 2 year old Intel MAC (and even a FW 800 RAID) for everything I'm doing in editorial.
If I want to do more of the FX work (like Green screen in Shake or such myself, then you look at a faster system, but chances are the budget is higher too and it is worth the investment.
I can't see the advantage of working natively in 4K for editorial, a long as I can always maintain the link to my R3D files.
