  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey Brent,

Seems I had all the info right when I made my decisions on day one when announced, just a quick question to make sure my bomb squad rep had it right - my timestamp is from when I completed the order online correct? I have yet to pay the invoice as It was stated I had 10 days to pay that?

The accessory credit works out really well, ill use the credit to buy my new mini mags then ill sell my old accessories plus old mags to pay for a new monitor and a v mount adaptor from element or whoever else has made one by then.
 
Tarquin, I am pretty much only familiar with RED products. As to what third-party stuff will work with the Base Expander, maybe someone else can chime in who is familiar with that set up.

Jordan, yes, based on time stamp of when order placed, not when deposit received.

Akin A, that is why Jarred kept saying having a DRAGON pre-NAB was your ticket to ride : )

Yes, in my post above - and on RED.com - it states what you have to send in - brain, Side SSD Module. All your other gear, do with as you please.

We are including a Lemo adaptor so you can use your existing displays with their Lemo cables. You do have to use MINI-MAGS on WEAPON, there is no 1.8" REDMAG option.

As to what you want to spend beyond what is in the bundle, it is up to you. The bundle specifically includes WEAPON-specific gear that can be supplamented with your existing accressories to make a fully working package out of the box.

Would you mind helping me understand exactly the prices I'll be paying in total so that I can decide whether or not this is a profitable endeavor for me? Before when I was only getting 15,000 for my brain and they were saying I'd owe 19,000 it seemed very unprofitable for me (when I could just sell my Dragon brain for that much more and go the route of buying it myself). Can the 5,000 dollars I get in store credit be applied directly to the upgrade balance owed?

So 34,500 - 17,500 = 17,000

17,000 - 5,000 store credit (if it can be applied) = 12,000


​So am I paying 12,000 dollars to get the upgrade and bundle of accessories?

That is not correct. I upgraded yeasterday. When my rep tallied it up the math was:

17,500 for Epic M trade in. So 17000 remaining. But the package includes accessories against which the 5000 credit can apply. So it is actually 12000.

I hope they did not make a mistake. As I am now learning that the included base expander may be a boner for audio - so you really need to add the 3950 Redvolt expander to get phantom power.
 
Frank, this is part of the PDF I have the people back at RED working on. Long story short, you would pay out of pocket $17,000 ($5000 deposit plus balance due when eligible to upgrade), yes. But you are getting over $5000 worth of accessories at no charge by doing the upgrade bundle. Then, you will get an additional $5000 credit for additional accessories after your WEAPON package is invoiced.

I think people are confused between the $5000+ of free accessories you get WITH the bundle versus the $5000 accessory credit you get on top of that.

I'm pretty sure your math is wrong... unfortunately looks like the 5k accessory credit is "AFTER the fact" as in pay up, then you for better or worse have 5k "credit" in your account to spend on additional accessories.

Direct from the RED website as of today:

This sux as I was hoping the 5k accessory credit would be able to be used on the overall upgrade.

Mat_G, you are already getting all of your accessories for FREE as part of the WEAPON upgrade. So, cannot apply the $5000 accessory credit to that, double dipping, if you will.

So, as Jordan says, we are hoping people think of it as $10,000 of free gear by being an upgrader. And I don't thnk that "sucks"....
 
I predict that Red will never again offer anything for an even $5K. Imagine the confusion avoided if the deposit was $5,001, the accessory credit was $4,999, the "free stuff" was $5,002 and the Scarlett trade-in value was $5,003.

My Clarity Tzar services are available for $5K :)

Yes I was wrong. And when I called my Rep back they admitted that they too had misunderstood that. So if it is tough for someone on the inside to stay on top of then very hard for us. The free stuff thing is being hit pretty hard I have to say. For me the poke in the eye was the realization that along with it being more than I expected moneywise the expander included is no go for real audio so say hello to the 3950 RV expander if you want that. So tedious I must say. Starting to feel like a kid buying an erector set.

To further help clarify Scott. This is the same thing my Rep said to me yesterday. When this 'understanding' was corrected here - I called back to Red and was told that yes that was the understanding they had yesterday but it had changed. So at this point I have cancelled my pre-order and will wait for the dust to settle as it is cray cray.

I feel the same way Tarquin!

I've lost an ENTIRE 3.5 days and nights just trying to stay on top of all the information.

I'm hoping a NAB wrap up post is coming soon from RED to clarify everything and rally the troops, so we can all make our respective business/financial decisions and get back to our regularly scheduled lives.

I can sense even always cool-as-a-cumber Brent is at his boiling point.
 
Yes Mat I hope there is a 'reckoning' when they get home and breathe for a moment. Because right now my whole confidence level has dropped to the floor. I can sense Brent getting testy - but to be frank they created this Rubiks cube of camera rollout so they have to culpa mea a little on this. I do not even think they have reached a final sense of the best way to proceed themselves.

This PDF might help. And believe me I get that you are getting frustrated. But hey. Me too. What is not answered in this thread is how a bomb squad rep processed my payment for the upgrade with exactly the understanding that I, and Scott who started this thread believed to be true. Not some flamer pain in A dimwit - your own team! You are selling a brain with a bunch of accessories. You are offering an accessory credit. How anyone is supposed to see that the accessories with the brain are not the ones you mean when you say NAB accessory credit is beyond me. And then on top of that these may not even be the accessories you want. So you have to understand - or not I guess - that I am now looking at all this sideways if your own people were operating under the same impression.

Dramatic much, I don't even know what to say to this BS... And it's Mea Culpa, something that maybe you should consider they are offering great incentives to upgrade.

I would expound but I am on set, but concerns or misunderstandings are ok, just don't be an ass to the people that are trying to help you.
