  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Indie Horror Feature screen grabs (LOW RES)

Any R3Ds?

:)

I just want to give a shout out to whoever did the production design on this movie!
Nice Work!

Obviously given the nature of this forum, the focus will be on the camera work and cinematography in general but the production design on this is very, very nice so big up to everyone involved in that. ;)

Hi Freya.

Thanks but actually the production design was minimal. Most locations were shot as is, with exception of few props like baby cot and butterfly collection. I don't want to take anything away from them cause they did do a good job but not too much was needed in the great locations.

I once shot a film underground in a mine and we did a terrific job considering the budget and constraints of shooting there. The Production designer did not do a single thing on that production, other than source the headlamps and some blankets and she ended up winning best production designer and cinematography was not even nominated haha. I think the judges thought she built the sets... anyway

Kind regards

Justus

Then you either have a great location scout or just completely amazing locations wherever you are in the world! :)

That's amazing. Was the morrocon style lamp added too? It feels like there are too many of those coleman lanterns but maybe it makes sense in the plot. The strange window is really amazing and I love the cog and the horse picture, and the noose like rope and the strange arc of the covenant thing sitting behind that guy. So this is like someones kitchen? I notice there is a fridge/freezer there!

This is an outstanding location.

Anyway I'm not meaning to detract from the cinematography which is great but you have the locations and props too which make the whole thing really work. I really like the use of light behind that strange window thing in this frame too! There's something special about what you did there! :)

So this is in South Africa? Are locations like this common out there or... !!!

Freya

Well they are quite common but you have to go a bit off the beaten track. South Africa is a beautiful country with loads of amazing locations.

Thanks Freya.

I know very well that cinematography and art direction goes hand in hand. The hard work won't show if either of the two departments don't bring their A game...

Plus, the cinematography is so good that I like bringing attention to this thread and film.

I'm sad to see the photos are all gone in the first post in this thread.
