I'll be shooting a low budget documentary next month, and am totally stymied by my options for post. Three week shoot will probably result in 60-80 hours of footage. The complicating factor is that I must intercut the Red footage with the B Camera, the HPX500 DVCProHD (2/3" chip). Will be cutting FCP on Mac Pro (I'm not the editor, don't know what the exact specs will be).
Is our best option to transcode the 4k footage to DVCProHD, for a 720p online edit, using Redcine? I have know idea how long this would take for about 40-50 hours of Red footage.
Or are there any suggeststions for an offline workflow?
