  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Indian Follow Focus... again

I had one last year before I could afford my Arri. I did a couple of commercial jobs with it. It does have slight play but once you're accustomed to it, it does the trick. Let's say that for 10% of the price of a real one, you get 70% satisfaction... I heard it doesn't work with some lenses, someone reported it didn't focus their primes or something, it was too weak and would just skid...

can anyone directly compare this with the redrockmicro?

The company support is good and the unit works fine, expect a little play but it works OK. Its not pro grade but it does work. The companies other products that need less precision are good for the money.

It's not good, the design is very poor, it squeaks and pieces fall off unexpectedly due to loose connections. *

i own a Redrock V1, and use the indian.

The redrock v1 can't be reversed easily, It has the same play (though it didn't have play in the early days of use), you can't change the white rings, and the knob is not as good to touch.

I mean, it's a knock off, but it's a nice knock off.

When redrock announced they were making a new FF, i pray for it look like the Indian, in better. but according to their pictures, it is the same design as their older, in better.

--of course for bigger project, rent an arri-- :)

I have one.

It squeaks, you need to lub it regulary.
It has play, I have to tweak it every hour. But it's quickly and easily tweakable.

As a first FF, it's nice.

How do you tweak the play? I'm guessing it's the little scalloped disc locked by a screw on the pivot of the swinging arm.

That Indian FF is an almost identical knockoff of the Chrosziel 203-01 video dual sided FF http://www.16x9inc.com/images/products/chrosziel/ac-ff-hd-09-large.jpg

except with plastic instead of metal parts!

I want to adjust the play on my Chrosziel but can't find a manual anywhere - it'd be interesting if the play adjustment is also identical - although I don't condone the blatant rip off!!

Does it have the friction adjustment too?
