I always transcode my Red footage in Avid DnxHD and then edit as usual. For the first time I want to come back to Avid for final coloring. After following all the workflow info (found very few online) I'm still pulling hair out. After decompose, Im saving EDl as File_16 and making sure all TC is seeing same track (TC1 in this case) exporting out of Avid and Importing into Red Cine X. Once I import into Red Cine time line Im getting one frame only per clip. So my 3 minute music video is a 10 sec time lapse. Any help would be greatly appreciated or if someone has a step by step for dummies I would be elated.

Hi Brian,

If you could, please go into your preferences and enable verbose logging and attempt your EDL import. Once done and you're getting the results you explained above, from the Help menu do a "Save Report..." and "Save System Information..". Attach those zip files to an email and send it in to redcinex at red dot com along with a copy of your EDL if possible. We'll try to get you up and running. And once that's all done, make sure to turn off verbose logging in the preferences again as it can affect performance of REDCINE-X.

Thanks,

My opinion is that going back to Avid for final color-correction is not a great workflow. I think there are better options out there, including exporting an AAF from Avid to (say) Resolve, then relinking to the R3Ds, conforming and color-correcting from within Resolve. Baselight, Mistika, and Pablo are all good alternatives that will do similar things.

I think RedCineX-Pro is an amazing tool (for free), but I don't think it's ideal for what you're trying to do.

Grant... thank you so much for your kind offer. I will do this tonight when i get home.

Marc... Thanks for the suggestion. I do have Resolve and perhaps they may be an alternative. I didn't realize I could import an AAF file into resolve. I will test that out later. I have just gotten use to doing one lites in Red CIne so Im just use to the software and no my way around pretty good.
