I’m trying to import 4K 16x9 RED footage into Final Cut using the Log and Transfer window, just using the look settings from the camera. Most settings are fine and covered in the RED FCP whitepaper, but there’s one that I can not locate. I’ve read in a couple different places that you can actually choose the debayering level for FCP between auto, half high and half normal. But I can’t find these settings in FCP. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Try looking in system preferences. If you've installed the preference pane (with the quicktime codec I believe) it will be there. But, I'm not sure if this applies to all debayer operations (across all products) or just REDAlert.

Prefs

Hi.
There is no pref in FCP for this.
Log & Trans will always take half res of what you feed it.
If you shot 4K, FCP will transfer it to 2K.
Use the prefs in L&T, in FCP, to select your format: either ProRes, or looks/native QT wrappers for your R3Ds.

System Preferences (for the Mac itself, not FCP)

Click on the RedCode icon

Choose either Half High, Half Standard or Auto

Or use RedRushes to transcode, instead of FCP L&T, to get Full Res Debayer (slow)
