  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Imax Epic

That makes two of us regarding FF35 Monstro news on Red D Day.

Even if they can make a ballpark announcement about Monstro, it would be helpful.

The EPIC 617 has a sensor size of 168x56. I'm sure it can have the ability to establish a 15-perf 70mm "IMAX" frame size. :)

Did anybody realize Epic 617 168mm*56mm = 3D IMax?

Good news that FF35 is high on Red's priority list. I know of several IMAX productions right now -- and several in planning -- that are seriously interested in getting their hands on these cameras for testing.

Because of the 3rd-generation 3:2 sensor, I am betting that FF35 Epic will be shooting IMAX films from day one.

Yep... Actually that has been mentioned around here quite a bit. :yesnod:

I think you're right, but I also think once the Epic 645 is released, the FF35 brain will be shoved aside when it comes to IMAX production. The 645 has more than double the sensor area and is a lot closer to actual 15/70 IMAX. For me, that 645 can't get here soon enough.

Sorry, my mistake, I didn't see 3D mentioned in the thread so thought it was missed. But it is the real solution.

Hehe, no worries Wayne. It's come up a time or two in the 3D section of the forums. It would be a great solution.
