I am sure it is buried here somewhere here on Reduser but I can't find any figures on what sort of speeds to expect from Full Debayer 6K Dragon Transcodes from RCX running on a top line Imac? Realise this is probably a moving target so older results probably not too relevant.

I'm on PC, so I'm no help. Like you said though, this will likely be a very moving target.

I haven't had an opportunity to use any iMacs for timed Transcode tests, just the Retina MBP and the nMP x6 core, but I imagine a top of the line iMac would fall somewhere in the middle.
nMP x6 core 5k tests, 18 fps
MBPR 5k tests, 5 fps for the 650m and 8 fps for the 750m versions.
Hackintosh 4 core GTX770, 15 fps

Shiblon,

Is that 5k Dragon or MX footage? Interested in how 6k slows transcoding compared to 5k. I also suspect the chosen compression rate will affect the transcode speeds?

It is Epic MX material, I don't have the Dragon upgrade yet, but the transcode speeds will be some what comparable. I don't think its going to take that much longer to transcode 6k Dragon material compared to 5k Epic R3D files. I'm sure we'll gather more information about transcode times over the next few months.

OK I did some tests on a few machines with some Dragon footage I downloaded. On a fully specced out current model iMac i get 4.1fps transcoding full debayer 6KFF 5:1 compressed footage. On my 2013 Retina MBPro 16gig RAM I was getting 3.8fps and on my 2008 Mac Tower quad core Intel Xeon with 20gig RAM and a R9 280x GPU card I am getting 3.6fps. This was using RCX 30 on all three machines. Don't think I will be buying an iMac to replace the tower quite yet.
