Hi Guys,
let me say first that i have scratch and i use scratch to process RED footage (and always works great) (so i don't know much about red app)
But today i was on se as DIT and for some timing reason i have decided to process a couple of clip using a MacbookPro and a redalert and redrushes...

the problem that i had:
basically the image over the 720p SDI was great (great lighting in studio and monitored on a panasonic SDI monitor), opening the proxie on the MBP the image was a bit different off course (different monitor etc,..( but same feeling of the SDI panasonic preview),
opening the image on red alert build 21 the image was completally different (pressing the use metadata button...),the black much more higher almost gray , and white balance different .....also i have tried to precess teh clip straight forward on red rushes (without using the RSX file created by Red Alert)and the result was bad...

how can i process using teh red app to have a QT that look like the QT proxie ?

thanks a lot

I believe it's your Gamma and Color space settings. These do not necessarily come across in the metadata. If they are not set to what you were monitoring on set (probably REC 709) your brighter black levels and white balance discrepancies might be caused by alternate space settings. Depending on why you are transcoding, using REC 709 might not be the best method, it depends on your workflow.

on set i was using redspace...
and actually i can't remember if in redalert did came as redspace (gamma and color space)...

but loading straight the R3D in redrushes without go through Redalert should encode something like the proxie....(i thought)

thanks'
