  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

im thinking of trying the NIKON mount

The Nikon mount works great. Great value if you have a couple of decent lenses. I recommend the 50mm f1.4 and the 17-35mm f2.8.

I concur. Great lenses. Im using them on my Red and i do a lot of photography with just those 2 with great results.

What are you guys using to get around the fact that these lenses are so much more difficult to pull focus with? (As compared to a PL mount cine lens.)

Edge assist, a good AC friend of mine . . . . . . those and ive made my own cine follow focus.

I suggest mounting 77mm step up rings to all the lenses, this brings them all fronts up to 80mm outer diameter, a standard size for cine primes.

the nikon mount, including the dx capable version from doug is shipping right now and it's relatively affordable.

those 2 things together are a big deal.

you could use either the nikon lens hoods

or

until you decide on a matte box this works fine in a pinch:

flare buster + manfrotto nano clamp = $60.
