  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm looking to buy a dead RED brick..

I would think most RED Bricks are still under warranty so if there's a problem you just send them back to RED.

Any particular reason why it has to be a Red battery?

They have a standard v-lock interface, so any v-lock battery will interface with the same equipment. You'll be able to find a dead one of those no problems - just call around rental houses.

Just a thought...

I really need a RED battery....

I had one that had an unfortunate incident with a number of rocks and ultimately the ocean (I had nothing to do with the incident and the production company covered the replacement). It's a little beaten up but if I can find where I put it (I made sure there was no way it could get mixed up with my good ones) there's no reason why you can't have it.

Be aware of the significant safety issues with disassembling LiIon batteries and safe disposal!

by the way, perhaps this is the wrong section to talk about this,

... but what is the difference between a red battery and a v-mount battery from another company.

i mean, why couldn't another v-mount battery display the power percentage in the red one display.

are there possibilities to mod a normal v-mount battery to show the energy in the camera?

A magnet, there have been a few previous threads.

I have a RED battery that stopped taking a charge but since I think the warranty is 90 days on batteries I never got around to sending it back. Cosmetically it is excellent - just won't charge.

somebody else here who got a dead RED brick?
i like to experiment if i can emulate 3rd partie batteries (with the integrated chip module in the RED battery)

so if somebody else got a dead RED BRICK he doesn't need, please contact me

greetz manolo from berlin germany

I'm in the same situation as AquaVideo -- Got a battery that won't charge, never got around to sending it back. Will consider donating it to a worthy cause.
