Very last minute but I'm going to interview Mr. Simon Hayhurst/VP of Adobe Dynamic Media today. Is there anything particular you folks want me to interveiw?

Obin,

Simon was talking about Cinema DNG. I guess they have very high goal.

It was really good to find out from Simon that Adobe is very much committed in supporting and also establishing the new ways to create films/video which I wish Apple would have had someone like Simon.

And by the way Obin, Simon mentioned a lot about how you and your brother adopted CS4. Very interesting story.

Ask about a color correction app on the horizon- in my opinion, the only caveat to Adobe workflow is having finer color controls. I'm not talking color finesse or a plugin, but something to really compete with Apple's Color- as flawed as it currently is.

exact. I vote for this question, too. Or, in AfterFX some specific set of grading tools in its own panel. These external plugins in separate windows are just a pain, they don't interpret working profile of the comp when color management is on correctly often, so if not working in srgb, one runs in real problems.

Guys, too late, sorry, but I already asked about what you want to hear or not hear. Adobe Japan assigned me to interview him because they wanted to have some intensive R3D related coverage.

I asked about the Color Correction in horizon, but he mentioned that Adobe is spending more effort for making the whole environment better, so he recommended Scratch or Speedgrade. I told him and he's very aware of Adobe already having all of the resources in there. My guess is that Premiere Pro CS5 would have the environment within itself.

Are we ever going to have Camera Raw like color correction tools for video? We could be achieving amazing results if we could use Camera Raw to develop RED video, or even 8-bit video from HD cameras.

And I don't mean the "convert to TIFF sequence" process I mean a direct plugin that gives you those controls.

Alex,

CS4 does provide RED RAW control as it is now. Simon said CS4 works natively, so it doesn't depend on any other video codec when CS4 displays or process video.

However, Adobe is also working on the video version of DNG, called CinemaDNG (click), which provides raw format for other raw capable cinema cameras.

RAW! YAY! that means a realtime 12bit or more visually lossless codec?
