I've used one, albeit with a 7D. I've seen one in use on a Red One, and it appeared to be displaying everything properly- but I wasn't working with it or even on that crew just visiting the set.

Its a pretty good display, especially for the price. It does re-clock its input, so you should be able to use it over HD-SDI.

It has peaking, and that works reasonably well. Its in monitor, so you can still have everything off on the Red output.

IIRC, the display is a bit glossy and not that bright. You need to get a hood, and you have to close it up pretty tight if you are shooting EXT. DAY.

All in all sharp monitor and a good value for the money.

I would also look at the SmallHD DP6 with the HD-SDI option. I used one on a half day, and was pleased. A bit smaller, but it has more resolution.

Mark,

Just wanted to pop in and offer a couple of tweaks to the info provided. The ikan VX9 actually does not offer peaking, that would be the ikan VX7e. The VX monitors have had perfect output with HDMI for all test runs, at least with the RED One. The HD-SDI signal has been somewhat spotty, but with a reclocking device has been effective. Also, the screen on the VX9 used to be glossy, but is now shipping with a matte screen, same as the VX& and VX7e.

Hope this helps!
