Hi!

I´d like to use the Ikan VX9 HD-SDI monitor on my RED ONE Mysterium-X on a crane setup. Does it work with RED One or do I need a downconverter or something similar? Any recommendations for other HD-SDI monitors for a crane setup?

Thanks a lot for Your help!

Beppo

Beppo,

Hope you've gotten some answers by now, but just wanted to pop in and offer some clarification. The VX series monitors have had a mixture of results with the RED One cameras (at varying firmware versions). HDMI has worked perfectly, in every test case. HD-SDI has required the signal to be reclocked in older versions of the firmware. This can be inconvenient, but it has been an inconsistency that ikan had not nailed down at last check.

hope this helps!

Beppo,

HD-SDI has required the signal to be reclocked in older versions of the firmware.

has this been fixed in whatever the most recent version of the firmware is, do you know? and how does one go about re-clocking an HD-SDI signal, if not.

I just ordered one of these -

thanks for any help

Meryam,

Not sure, actually. I know the last testing done there was using a RED One with a Build in the 20's. There has not been any new testing with the VX series that I am aware of. You were saying you just ordered a VX9, correct?

yes, I read about the need to reclock the VX9 for using HD-SDI in two different places, I think once on the Ikan blog and once on DVinfo, but no one seems to be able to explain how this might actually be done.

i purchased one at B&H recently, but it appears to be back-ordered - so I'm waiting, at the moment.

Meryam,

We had used one of the Blackmagic boxes, I believe, in-line between the camera and monitor. This worked well enough in lab testing. Had not done real world testing. I'd like to get you in touch with the current testers, so if interested, send me a PM.
