If the Scarlet were released tomorrow, and the cost to get your Scarlets under normal working conditions were:

$4,500 2/3 Fixed
$4,500 2/3 Interchangeable
$9,000 S35
$11,750 FF35

...what would you do?

If a frog had wings would he bump his ass?

Hold on I got another... Is a frogs ass water tight?

Man what kind of question is that? Granted anything is possible, but I take the Red brand at thier word as far as thier price point and the cameras are concerned. If Jim has not said anything about a price increase during these hard economic times then there is no issue IMHO.:cheers2:

I didn't say anything about a price increase. You may be able to shoot with the Fixed Scarlet for $3750, but will a single CF card be able to take care of your needs as a videographer? Kudos to you if you can. There's also more than digital storage you have to think about as well.

I would place my order immediately and then proceed to party it up in celebration of the scarlets release. that's what i would do.

Get an underwater housing built and take it scuba diving with Platypus on me dads farm

I'm just going to wait until tomorrow to see if this comes true.

Why did you change the price list? It is not accurate.
I agree.

Otherwise, you could place other more realistic options such as 1x FF35 and 2x or more Interchangeable 2/3 Scarlets, etc.

Me and my brother both have the money ready to go to get a 2/3" Scarlet each. I'm not sure about him, but I'm probably looking at getting a 15" MacBook Pro and Final Cut Studio for editing as well (My current editing computer is alright at doing 1080p but probably wouldn't handle 3K very well, and I want to move to FCS because of Colour, but can't afford a Mac Pro).

I'm OK with Scarlet taking a few more months though, as I'm hoping that before it's released, Australia's exchange rate climbs a little higher (It's already quite strong compared to earlier in the year, but it could be better). Also, I'd like to see a new 15 inch Macbook with an ExpressCard slot so I can use an Esata RAID for editing.

How old are you and your brother?

Don't count on a new 15" MBP with an ExpressCard anytime soon. Apple stated their reasons at their Keynote Address. Have you ever worked with the 17"? I have used one for the past 2 1/2 years and just bought a new one. They have a lot better speakers, matte display. Also, if you order through the education store, you can also get a free iPod Touch before Sept 8th. ;)

get one 2/3 fixed immediately and a second one for 3D later (matter of money)

I'm 18, he's 21. We're both engineers (I'm at Uni but work part time as a software engineer, and do a little freelance web design/development) and I guess you could call us photo/video enthusiasts.

Perhaps - I've used an older 17 inch model, and it was very cool (but quite heavy!). The main reasons I wasn't thinking about the 17 inch is that it's not very portable (not a massive problem, as I have a little MacBook that I use for Uni) and it's a bit pricey here (about $600 more than in the US)... And you don't get the iPod in Australia...

I would buy the Fixed lens Scarlet, saying it was for the next job but when the next job comes around I would hire in a S35 with some nice lens, and keep the Fixed as a toy or maybe even as a second camera but it would really be a nice shiny new gadget/toy.:001_tongue:

2 x fixed-lens and 1 x FF35 for me... Then EPIC 645 FTW!!!
