  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

if I don't have an nvidea graphics card in my laptop...

Yes, you're screwed for now.

Hopefully between either:

1. 3rd party support being allowed (CineForm has a working CPU-based decoder that doesn't depend on GPU, they're just not allowed to release it)
2. RedCine getting out of beta (when hopefully it'll support more cards)
3. RED Quicktime support for Windows being allowed
4. you buying another laptop (with an nVidia card)

...things will get fixed in the future.

Congrats on Akira BTW!

Hopefully someone at Red will take notice of the fact that even our high-profile Reduser buddies are having problems and either allow 3rd party support to happen sooner, or hire more people so that RedCine can get out of beta sooner or Windows RED Quicktime support can happen.

I must admit I expected PC Quicktime support by now. It's definitely holding me back too. I'm sorry, but there's no reason Red can't hire more people to speed up the PC port. If they want to keep Red as a company small and not contract the PC Quicktime port out, that's fine - just allow 3rd parties in.

once the redcode raw fileformat is finally opened to 3hrd parties, it should only be a question of time until several viewing options dont require *special* graphics cards.

Just so you feel better.

I have NVIDIA 8700 in my computer and I am screwed too.
I just got 8800 and I will try it tomorrow, maybe....it will work.
I guess on PC REDCINE likes NVIDIA Quatro.

But I got old Mac with ATI for now so it works fine.
