Anyone using IDX VL-4Si or VAL-4Si chargers with Red batteries? Any issues?

Looking for a solution to charge multiple Red bricks overnight.

Thanks for sharing any experiences.

Hey Mark. We don't own one of the quad chargers but I can say that we recently rented a setup from Indie Rentals in Hollywood for a B-Cam and they provided an IDX charger with their setup. We used it for three days and had no problems.

I've been using our IDX charger with many different batteries, and it performs flawlessly. I love the extra information it gives you in the display.

You are probably aware of that the charger takes longer when all 4 ports are loaded. If you need quicker turn-around times, it can be an idea to load only 3 ports, and pop on the fourth one in the morning. By the time you've used the other 3 batteries up, the 4th one would be fully charged.

Great thanks guys!

Curious which charger you were using. The differences between the VL and VAL models is the info, but I'm not sure the VAL is worth the diff in price if you're not using IDX batts.

The display gives a good overview, and you can dig a bit deeper. For the übergeek you can even hook it up via USB to a PC (not Mac) and draw funky graphs.

What I like is that it gives a good estimate as to the remaining charging time.

I love it, but then I always love things with buttons to push. Is it necessary or does it make me a better cameraman? Nope...

From my understanding, you should be able to charge any Li-Ion Battery on any Li-Ion Charger as long as it is the same mounting system.

I have Chinese Beillen Li-ion AB mount batts that should not go on AB chargers, even if the AB charger is designed for Dionics. At least that's what I've been told.

Just FYI...
