Hey guys. I know that Epic is going to solve all these problems, but in the meantime, I was thinking of some ways to get slightly higher frame rates on the RED right now.
My first suggestion is through aspect ratio. Right now the only true 2.35 setting is in 4.5K, which is great, but why can't we get 2.35 in all the resolutions instead of having to crop from 2:1? Would 2k 2.35 be able to go over 120fps? Or 3k 2.35 over 60fps? Even if it's only a slight increase, it's still nice to have the option.
My other suggestion would be a lower RedCode. Jim mentioned that he was impressed with the quality of RC10, so I was wondering if that could be a helpful way to increase framerates. I actually really like 3K overcranked, but if I could shoot 4K 2.35 RedCode10 at 48fps, I would be very happy.
Anyways, I'm sure the brains at RED have already thought of these things, but I figured I would just throw them out there just in case.
