I'm fairly certain Reduser is based on a template, so i'm not sure how much customization is easy to do, but what about a "Like" button (yes, as in that facebook feature) for all Jim's threads on Recon? That way, when someone has nothing to say except 'wooohooo', they can just click "Like". It's frustrating to pose a question on those thread and then have it immediately buried under an avalanche of noise.

*LIKE* :)

Me like. But will it really stop the noise? It might just add to the noise, lots of "likes" supplemented with woots. What is a woot anyway? Always reads like a Dr. Suess critter...

I completely agree that the noise can be a bit aggravating - but RED does thrive on gratitude and appreciation, so if we have to filter through a few woots or descriptions of underwear changing to keep them motivated, there are worse things...

It would be nice to have an organized, locked section with direct answers to questions, though, I totally agree.

I'm pretty sure Jim would end up with so many likes that the like button becomes pointless haha...

How's about, categorise posts? So if you have a question you just click the pull down menu and hit 'question?' and that way if you see people have questions you simply filter the thread to question view...sort of like a Q&A...

If your willing to ask a question I'm sure a simple few extra clicks won't kill right? Also means that anything not categorised will end up as 'noise' so at least people don't have to shift through pages anymore or create posts on Q&A's but rather it just happens to be apart of Recon...

EDIT:
didn't mean pointless as in your idea,it's brilliant and I get where you wanna go but you know that some people will post "woohoo" anyway AND press like too.. Others may not...
Just think if you want to lesson the noise filters probably a neat way to go...
