  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC presentation...

Hi all,

Just fyi... streaming the presentation not going to happen. Too much stuff to try and pull off at the last minute.

I'm sure there will be looooottts of redusers there to post what happens. : )

Disappointment, Record and upload maybe?! i hear there are cameras out there that already capture in web friendly delivery formats so you wouldnt even need to transcode

But remember that 1080p was something only briefly mentioned around the time of the announcement of the 3rd, back when they announced the full line up of brains and modules for the first time. (as far as I can remember now, it's been a long time)

The actual resolution might not be full 1080p though... it just sunds like so much to pack in an EVF! I dunno... the current 720p EVF is so sharp... maybe it ends up being something in between 720p and 1080p... with the other major benefit being the size and weight reductions which are significant! The prototype I held was so tiny and light!!! I'd be beyond stoked with something like 20% more resolution.

Also keep in mind that they need to be able to output a 1080p which I assume would take significantly bigger pipes when the brains are SO tinyyyy! I mean 1080p is 150% of the image... and the brains are a matchbox compared to a Red One. I believe! But it would be a major feat, so I am to me ANY additional resolution will be a MAJOR win.

It is starting to get exiting!!! :)

Its actually not 1080p, jarred addressed this in the other (more news) thread. its just a rumor unfortunatly, it came from the website where it stated the outputs on the cam are 1080p.....right next to a pic of the bomb. But what do i know! maybe it will be

I really enjoyed the new reel, and also had a ball in the Q&A thanks to tonnes of humour and professionalism combined. Thanks for stopping by and lift the curtain a little bit on some of the stuff you work on. Keeping my fingers crossed on the ASIC and sending good thoughts to Ted.

I had a stop over in Amsterdam on my way to Zurich for a film, and was half tempted to stay in Amsterdam to come visit, but I figured it was a better idea to come to Zurich to talk with the DP about using this scam camera instead of 35mm.

Jarred, why don't you come meet up with me in Zurich to show off the camera, and help me make the sale ;-)
 
Heh Heh sorry Colin.. we just landed back in California. Gotta get back to work so we can deliver on all those promises we made over the last couple days :)

Hey Jarred, just back from Zurich, and the DP, who swore he would never shoot on RED is now going with the RED for all VFX elements (I am VFX supervisor) Funny how quickly he accepted the format...

Hey Jarred, we need to shoot some plates in NY for this Zurich shoot, any chance you could introduce me to the Off Hollywood guys? I have seen them post here, but don't know them directly.

The intro would be appreciated!
