Hi, I have a Scarlet and I'm building out the HH rig for rental, I was wondering if I should include a RED ARM for the LCD camera monitor. At this time we do not have a EVF, we are attaching the mon. with a offset plate connector. Would it be a deal breaker in renting the camera if no red arm?
Thanks for any feedback.

I would suspect that the renter will have a more valuable opinion about his/her needs but I can see a million ways to configure a handheld/shoulder mount rig. No arm needed as long as you have a reasonable way to accommodate what's needed on the rig. Sounds like you don't have a TouchScreen? If not, I'd say that's more problematic than no arm.

I would concur that a touch screen is much more important for a rental camera than an arm. When I'm on set I much prefer to use the touch screen than to scroll through the menus with the side hand or the redmote. If I needed another camera for any reason and the package did not include a touch screen I would not be interested in renting it unless the rate was spectacular, however, with out an arm I would likely still rent. I do have one in my package, but I rarely use it without the EVF.

Arms are great - but NOT indestructible, esp in a rental environment. Properly used, one loosens the arm to reposition, then locks it down. What kills them quick is people repositioning arms that are already tightened. It's the quick-n-lazy way to go when your under pressure, but the meter is running before the arm will fail. Mine lasted 2 yrs and I was trying (most of the time) to be conscientious about releasing it correctly for repositioning. Something I can guarantee NO renter will ever be bothered doing!
Expect a pretty short life in a rental environment. Makes you maybe want to consider a handful of Chinese knock-offs standing by...

Hello guys,

Just a quick question that might sound silly, I'm interested in getting a hydrostatic manfrotto arm like the one that you were talking about in the posts above. Now, the red lcd has 1/4 mounting holes, and the red top plate has only 1/4 mounting holes. How are you using your arm which has a 3/8 screw? An adaptor or something from 1/4 to 3/8 is needed?
Thank you
