  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

i1 Display Pro Group Buy on LiftGammaGain forum

http://www.lightillusion.com/i1_display_pro.html

Here's Light Illusion's endorsement of the quality of the tool. Light Illusion is the industry standard color management service.

Discount is to be under 200 euro (plus VAT if you're applicable) if 15 people participate, less if more (but how much less hasn't been stated).

It should be noted that this purchase is intended to be used in conjunction with Lightspace CMS from Light Illusion, and is the more expensive OEM version that will work with 3rd party software.

Do you use one Juan? I kind of want a personal endorsement of someone who will say, 'yay or nay' (preferably if they have experience with bigger more professional units and can vouch for the unit comparing favourably with them.)

..But, yeah, BHphoto has them for $225 or something.

Unless it's the OEM version with the above product code, it won't work with non-xrite software (which is why the OEM costs more)

The one sold by B&H will only work with the X-Rite software. This is why you must buy an OEM version of the device or else you cannot use it with LightSpace or Calman.

The product I linked to is the OEM version. Since there is no mention that it is restricted to Calman, it should work with Lightspace. Just to be sure, I have sent them an email to confirm this. I'll report back soon.

I actually haven't used the i1 Display Pro but As Brett mentions Steve Shaw says its a quality product.

It also seems to compare quite well to the BasICColor Discus, a meter costing $1300. Read the comparison here: http://www.drycreekphoto.com/Learn/Calibration/Details/Discus_v_i1D3.html

Thanks for the heads up/clarity guys.

I do find it weird that the hardware is the same, but that the probes have software incompatibility issues (e.g. only the OEM works with the other software)…. very peculiar.

Maybe REDuser should try to get their our own group by to get the right one.

Spectracal have responded and confirmed it is the correct OEM version and it will work with other 3rd party software:

"The Display Pro we sell is exactly as we receive it from X-rite. SpectraCal does not change it in any way. So any other software that expects to see an X-rite i1 Display Pro (XRCE-i1D3+OEM) will work."

Purchase away!

Nice work, Juan :-)

I don't think the i1 can be used to calibrate OLED and some other displays. Something to keep in mind.

I think it was the old i1 Display 2 that couldn't be used reliably with some display types.

The i1 Display Pro can be used with pretty much anything. From the Light Illusion website:

• Supports modern display technologies including:
CRT
LCD
Plasma (Pulse Modulation)
• Supports different illumination technologies
Generic CMF
CCFL
Wide Gamut CCFL
White LED
RGB LED
OLED
Plasma
RG Phosphor
Projection

I think you are correct. I think the comparison that Spectracal does with their C6 meter may be referencing the older tech.

X-Rite are helping, and the price will be £175, including shipping.Steve

Steve mentions the final price will be below £200 GBP in this thread here:
http://www.liftgammagain.com/forum/...ade-your-way-to-a-grading-monitor.2080/page-2

£200 GBP = US$327. So its actually just cheaper to buy it from SpectraCal here at $US249.

X-Rite maybe could help little more...assuming are same product...SpectraCal = $265 w/shipping...vs. X-Rite = $285 w/shipping

Depending on how the exchange rate goes and your shipping quote from SpectraCal.

Thanks Juan! Gonna order one and an Eizo monitor shortly...anything else I'm missing?
