I know that purchasing a R1 used will void warranty, how ever the warranty is expired by this point I believe. I dont need a camera body beyond #125.
Im willing to pay a premium price just name your price. Send me a PM with your price what you have included and where you are located in the world.
I myself stay in Southern California.

If you are in limbo of selling your camera, perhaps i can interest you in selling me yours for its Serial # value, pay you a premium and you buy a brand new camera and you will basically make money and still have a R1 camera.

Thank you for your time R1 Owners.

Alex A.

Hey Alex, I have #115 but she is not for sale ;) sorry. BUT, many of the super low cameras are owned by folks that work for Red or are very close. What is it you are looking for in the low serial #? Both on my Reds 115 & 3090 are very reliable.

Good luck with your quest!

He probably is looking to jump onto the EPIC-X bandwagon as soon as he can. All I can say is good luck Alex... And there will also be some restrictions on the ability to upgrade and trade if you buy a used camera now. Keep that in mind when working out a purchase, if you actually find someone willing to part with a low number RED One at this point.

There is no need in buying a used Red for trade-in for the Epic. The deposit date for the Epic has passed. And it has nothing to do with serial number. It has to do with the date of the invoice.

What do you mean the Epic-X deposit date has passed?

As far as I was aware, from Jim's announcements, RED was going to contact the registered owners of RED Ones in the order the cameras were first delivered and ask them which of the three EPIC upgrade routes they wish to pursue. Then, when the EPIC's are ready to ship they will have 30 days to pay or loose the trade-in / upgrade path.

I know the date for buying a new RED (and hence getting in the line for an upgrade) has passed. But I own #646 (delivered as soon as it became available) and haven't heard anything officially from RED, so I hope the date for choosing the EPIC upgrade path hasn't passed too.

Can someone confirm?

Yes Please confirm - I would assume the forum would be lit up with "I got the Call" posts if this were true.. If it is true and the time has passed.. I am gonna cry a bit now..

(Sorry for off topic)

I bought a used Red #388 and transferred the title. However, the title transfer took a few days too long and was finally transferred a few days past the deposit deadline (late October). They won't allow me to be on the path for the Epic upgrade because I didn't make the deposit in time. According to them, you have to have your deposit in by Oct ___ something.

I had no idea that you must make a deposit by a certain date for the Epic. I've talked with them a dozen times trying to fix the issue, since the title transfer started well before the deadline and I would have made the deposit if the camera was in my name, however, they won't budge.

I own Red 388 but am at the back of the line for an Epic. It sucks.

There is a great deal of mis-information that seems to get absorbed (bolstered by wishful thinking) in regards to the "lines" for Epic, et cetera. This despite the "rules of the game" being rather specifically laid out.

Alex, I sent you a PM.

I never heard anything about a "deposit" for Epic. I thought Red was not taking any deposits at this time for Epic, Scarlet, or Red Ray?

What information is this statement based on?

Come on now ;) I've been on the phone with Red for weeks and have been talking with Travis, the head of title transfers. You're telling me I am hearing things? I am told you must have placed a deposit for the Epic by October __. Try calling them yourself before you say it is "mis-information."

Wouldn't it be easier for everyone if RED posted the Epic procedure on the website?

I think I know whats going on here .. do you mean:

You have been told that you must have placed a deposit /on a Red One/ to be eligible for the Epic upgrade by October.

When Epic is in the web shop, you can just place a deposit and wait for the cam to be delivered. Now you can purchase a R1 on the web shop, but you can not trade in that camera for a Epic. That time have passed, and Jim did clearly post this here a few times.

The trade-in program for R1 is for faithful R1 users that have contributed with testing, feed back and helped in development of the new red cameras. To "jump in" and get ahead in the line in not the idea what i figured.

Okay please allow me to jump in, and see if I can make a little sense of this..

In order to reward all early R1 believers Jim has made incredible offerings of upgrade paths, so any R1 owner that has purchased in first hand and or has purchase a second hand R1 but pay for the transfer fee to RED on or before October 29th, will qualify for stages ONE to THREE.

Any one that will buy a First hand (New at RED Store) R1 will be eligible for the Stage FOUR of the Epic BRAIN ONLY upgrade path, NO FREE RED GOODIES and NO preference path on waiting list.

So I would very carefully look in to this before buying a used RED ONE, as it could in deed be valid for all stages of upgrades to the Epic, while at the same time it might very well not be, I haven't check in to this personally but just out of recollection of various posts, so confirm it for your self.

Each current R1 Register User, will receive an e-mail with given instruction to which Stage to upgrade to, and if this is not executed with in 30 days, then you will automatically fourth fit your R1 Serial number as executed and no further eligible for any other offerings, other then the upgrades to the R1 it self upon payment of what ever cost.!!

I own Red 388 but am at the back of the line for an Epic. It sucks.

Can anyone point out where this policy was clearly posted?

I understood that a buying a low serial number Red One now, and registering it with Red, placed the new owner high in line according to the serial number, with a $17,500 refund for the Red One body.

That is correct. If you bought a used R1 and didn't transfer the title of ownership before Oct 29th - AND - pay the deposit fee for the Epic, then you are not in line for the Epic. I've been told this a million times by Travis at Red. EDIT: if you are an original owner (first hand) of a R1, then I don't think there is anything to worry about.

They are not doing it by serial numbers, but the date of the invoice. This keeps those people who bought a used R1 with a low serial number jumping in front of the line of someone who bought from Red at the very beginning.

Keep in mind, i am at the back of the link because I bought a USED R1 and didn't make the deposit before Oct 29th.

Jeremy there is NO deposit fee for the Epic and or Scarlet, RED has never announced and or accepted one.

Ketch, all I can say is that I have been told that I must place a deposit for the Epic. Perhaps it is for owners of used R1's or something. Anyways, I'm going to call tomorrow and get the details on why others haven't been asked for a deposit.

I can't remember seeing anything posted "officially" by Jim or Jarred mentioning a deposit for Epic. As far as I'm aware, those who are 'in line' (who have bought a RED as first owners, or 2nd hand with transfers before Oct 29th) will be contacted to "fulfill" the upgrade (by selecting the stage they'd like to participate in) and will have one month to come through with the payment.
Please point to any official statement that says we must place a deposit.
