Building my color grading package. Looking for a good color grading monitor. appreciate any suggestion. budget or high end. doesn't matter.
cheers

Ive gone from a constantly calibrated SONY OLED to a off the shelf MAC LED.. Believe it not... :) And the LED so far is perfect.

The Dolby is great as well..

Yep, we get scoffs from other color-pros, but the Apple LED has been the same result for us. "Excellent enough."

Apple LED > Apple Cinema Display?

Doesn't the MAC's glossy screen drive you bonkers? One of my partners got it for his Avid suite and the glare made it almost unusable.

How does one feed image from I/O card to Cinema Display? It only has Thunderbolt.

To me, a reasonable color-correction monitor in the under-$3000 price range would be something like Panasonic Broadcast's 30-series or 300-series 50" plasma displays. Those are currently used by more than a dozen major LA post facilities for final color on network and cable HD shows. The monitors have their share of flaws, and ideally you need a Cine-Tal Davio box to reproduce Rec709 under SMPTE RP166 conditions. But my experience is that you can get very, very close without the box.

I do my work on the Apple LED 27" and it's great. Am transferring a project to a properly calibrated suite and to my eye my files look exactly the same there.
