I want a 5" screen instead of 2.8", SSD instead of CF, maybe Side Handle instead of RedMote.

Now even if you buy the full Fixed Scarlet kit + those modules, it's still cheaper than buying the interchangeable brain + those modules + lens mount + ~$1200-1500 for an old 16mm zoom. Which speaks to what a crazy-good deal the Fixed Scarlet is!!

But if you could just get the Fixed brain/lens + those modules, and not have to worry about re-selling the Side CF, 2.8" LCD, etc yourself, it'd be even better.

I don't think selling the modules will be a problem at all, as I don't foresee Red meeting initial demand very well.

I would also want a 5" LCD instead of the 2.8", which to me is very small. Having a Side Handle instead of the REDMote for me would be great, since I want to do some handheld work (although the REDMote is great for tripod shots, I need to be able to hold the camera comfortably first).

Not too sure the side handle is the best option for hand held work. These cameras will be heavy to handle like a DSLR. Shoulder rig of some kind will probably be a better choice.

Never hurts to buy the kit and a 5" screen. Never hurts to have a backup and the smaller screen will be great in tight spaces or portable rigs. If not sell it.

Maybe instead of selling the CF/LCD just find someone who is doing the opposite and selling the fixed brain. There was talk about buying a fixed package and an interchangeable brain (and then selling the fixed brain) to save money. Idk it's a possibility.

Scarlet kit price is probably based on a sales guestimate, meaning quantity. If everyone had something different in the kit the price of the parts wouldn't be the same because of basic laws of production costs.

Everyone wanted a professional 3K camera for minimum cost so there you go. Take the mobile phone sized screen. I think it's there only because of the amount of drama there would be in case the price of Scarlet kit was slightly increased. Folks would probably start RED hate club or slash their wrists and gadget sites write how RED sucks.

Maybe RED could add an option of minor discount for 5" addition to the kit.

I hope a viewfinder accessory that turns 2.8" LCD into an EVF is in the works ..... since we are getting the same LCD deal with Epic trade-in Stage 3 .... for those of us who already have 7" LCDs this would be a killer upgrade.

Until the Fuzzy Love Monster EVF comes out of course. :)

Of course. :D

I'm knitting my special eyecup as we speak.

on another note, i too am looking for the option to get the 5 in lcd over the 2.8 but if it doesnt happen its not the end of the world. I just had a thought, completly off topic i must say but i wonder if red would ever get into the tripod market?

Is it not true, however, that the new LCDs will have the touch tracking technology? Isn't that one reason they are a bit pricey? And current RED LCDs will not, I assume, deliver the tracking features.
