  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I need your professional opinion: How did they shoot this music video?

Hi!
*
This is one of my first postings in this forum, but I just saw a music video and I'm really interested in how this project was realised.

- How did they manage to shoot in the blazing sun but still being overall perfectly exposed? Do you think that there's much grading involved?*
- The grain is fantastic! Is this real grain or an overlay?*
- What lenses / camera / rig do you think was used? The camera seems to be floating like a drone? Or maybe afterwards stabilisation? Is this a Red? (it's available in 4K on youtube)

Many thanks in advance, I'm really curious!

From the teal/blue look my guess is an Alexa mini on a gimbal or Steadicam.
Some bounce back on them.
Don't know if I saw grain or YouTube compression. There's a lut applied to the whole video
But artistically, man, what an uninspiring video...

I could only take about 10 seconds of that video, but there's nothing radically difficult that I see in terms of correction. If they have enough fill, then protecting the exposure for the sky is not that big a deal. YouTube compression generally decimates grain, so I ain't seeing much of that here. Balancing grain and massive MP4 compression is always a compromise. It can be done for theatrical release and home video release to a point.

There are so many other great videos in the world you could be curious about.
Exactly what I was thinking lol. I was expecting something crazy to happen... didn't happen.

Looks like it's filmed with Dji osmo or gopro on gimbal
