  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I need to find and test OLD OLD lenses, pre- super speeds pre 1980s. Bad IS GOOD!

I have a project that requires to shoot on very old, broken, bad, no coating, chipped, rough, scratched, even cracked lenses.
PL Mount please.

Im from LA area so it has to be local.
I know this goes against everything but its a particular look we are going for and I want to test old stuff.
Anything nice and clean is just too sharp.
I know that i can get desired effects from post but we want to capture it this way.

If you have lenses i should check out please let me know and or email me directly.

Primes is preferred but zooms are ok to look at.

Thanks

Mad props to you Lu for doing it the "analog way" Deakins did the very thing, although he had extra help having had custom frankenstein lenses made for him :) wish you the best, and be sure to post some stills when you've got it shot. I love stuff like this.

What you need is a set of very early Baltar that has not been repaired and still has the old Balsam glue holding them together. They may be in basic Mitchell or Bnc mounts.
I am sure they are available someplace to hire.
Hope this helps for my twopence worth!

Tom thats RAD thanks man I appreciate that.
Tony I will look for that thank you
Dan got it I will have to check that out.

Brent I hear ya and ive visited 6 rental shops yesterday, boy is this harder than it sounds minimal luck so far.
The one i had higest hopes for was the WORST place to visit.

Twice ive gone to Otto for rentals and both times have been disappointing visits. Apparently they dont have anything older than super speeds.
I know they are tops in the industry but their attitude S U C K S.

Im still on this mission
thanks guys.

We've got a lot of old vintage glass that we have modified into pl mount. 30's Cooke Pancros, 50's Kowa Cine Prominars, 70's Canon K35's, Uncoated Zeiss Super Speeds. Also many anamorphic lenses that might be interesting for you. If you want to come check them out call us 818.841.8700 ask for Stu, Scott or Tracy in rentals.

Kavon i would love to visit you early next week if thats ok.
Currently working on a boxing project so see ya soon.
