The Tripod I have now is not strong enough to support the red with all the attachments. ( ff, dovetail baseplate, monitor ect..) I want tripod legs that can support atleast 30-50 pounds, can anyone recommend a good brand/model?
Not trying to spend $5000 on a tripod either. try to stay between the range of 500-1500 , just need legs have head.

look for a used sacthler 2 stage set up on ebay, usually can be found for around 1500-2000 but will last you forever.

thank you for the responses. anyone else? anyone use the Kessler Kpod?

I second the miller solo. I have probably 8 or 9 heads and 10-12 sets of sticks. The millers I got because I wnated a really light run and gun set up. They are awesom. The can get as low as a high hat, and really high. They weigh nothing.

do you think the Miller will supper the Kessler Cineslider 3ft with high hat, manfrotto head + the camera? Its a lot of weight for those legs lol.
my legs wont even support the weight of the red without one of the legs sinking. (and yes when I run the slider I use 2 tripods.

I have the 100mm bowl version, I would be OK with that set up on the miller. The 100mm version says it's rated for 66 pounds, the 75mm 44lbs.

i think im gonna try the miller, seems really light weight, just hoping those legs stay locked!

no spreader with that slider setup, i dont know.
im not sure you want that light of a setup, sturdier the better.

Look for a used Sachtler V18 or V20. It'll last you a long time.

I never understand the lightweight tripod direction.

Most are gonna be using C-Stands at least,
Why have a tripod that weighs less?

Go big and Heavy; tripod weight ratings are, at best, an exaggeration.
For mobility ease, many may be served best w/ a separate shoulder rig,
and dovetail or bowl swap that shoulder rig to your big as a monster tripod/pedestal/dolly

agreed, i have 3 levels, ronford mitchell, sachtler 100mm, and then a super light weight miller.
i havent touched the miller in over a year.

I have the solo. Great for a lightweight set up, but not for heavy. Sure, it'll take the weight, but it twists. And when you are on a long lens it has a tendency to transfer shake and wobble even when you are handling the camera.

Get something heavier and more sturdy. The big thing you should be looking out for is twisting so, as others have mentioned, a spreader will help reduce that.

I use a Vinten 3821 with Pozi-loc. Solid and lightweight but easily takes my 14kg rig without twisting (it's rated for 25kg). But even a quality second hand Sachtler, heavier Miller, or Ronford-Baker would be a better way to spend your money.

so no one likes the kssler Kpod? it said 22lbs that's what made me not want to get it.
