Damn you Ketch, as if there wasn't money enough to spend on Epic bodies ... Leica lenses ... tripods ... etc ...
Now you have to go show me the incomparable awesomeness of Briese Focus lighting -- with their $25,000-$50,000 HMI kits!!!! Damn you!!!!! LOL.
But seriously, thanks Ketch -- I appreciate your relentless commitment to the "best" -- you've really inspired me to step up my game and figure out how to better monetize my projects so that like you I don't have to compromise on my gear in any way.
Also curious to see if anyone else has experience with Briese lighting -- and what they think?
I have an shoot coming in about 45-60 days, I will be using the R1 to film a pretty famous playmate (instructional videos) for a relationship product and I'm thinking about renting two Briese kits. Maybe from B2Pro or Monster Lighting in LA ... the type of shooting will be mostly her directly speaking into the camera, or interview-type scenes. (maybe some stand-up body language demonstrations as well)
(What I like about Briese is also being able to use the S2 to shoot fashion shots of her and the other girls at a very high level ...)
If the project goes well, we will most likely have the cash flow and financing to justify a much bigger budget/purchase in terms of lighting, etc ... and hopefully by the next shoot in the summer the Epic/Scarlet will be out.
The product will be mostly web video, yet there will be a DVD option where the extra resolution will be helpful and like Jim says, it will be good to "futureproof" it with 4k anyways .....
Anyway, thanks again for the opinion/tips about Briese if you have one -- also if you're really happy with another type of lighting -- please feel free to chime in. Thx!
