Hey everyone -

Just directed this great music video for a band called Wallpaper. The cool thing about this shoot was that the video was shot at 120 fps (2k) and was a 8 and half minute, one take shot. The video was shot by Jordan Levy. Would love any thoughts or comments.

very cool video....
seems very dark (blacks crushed hard); not sure if its youtube...
you should upload a HD version. Who was the DP and how was
the time effects done?

I love the video...wicked idea...
Just wondering...the bits where his full on moving and everything is still...I'm guessing everyone was told to keep still at that point?
Similarly when everyone is dancing fast at the start and his moving slightly slower...is that the same sorta thing?

One take is crazy...how many times did you guys have to roll before you got it right?

EDIT:

Might sound like a stupid quesiton but uhhh did you use the whole 8mins? Since the song was only like 3mins 13sec and I can't see a cut...so...just wondering...

looks like a lot of the video was sped up in post which would explain the 8 and a half minutes down to 3 minutes.

Loved it - some nice touches. How did you do the lipsync in the section near the end where it runs sped up then slomo in one shot? Variable speed on playback, or cheated two takes?

thank guys for all the comments.

The dp was jordan levy.

We shot it at 120 fps so we were limited to 2k at 24fps. The song was played back on set at 25% and 200% of the normal speed and time remapped in after effects by Westernized Productions. Another challenge we had, was that at the frame rate we were at and the camera, we needed a ton of light. We shot the entire video a super limited budget (aka almost none) and had a limited amount of lights.

We did around 8 takes. Since everyone had to be still for the fast motion parts it was a challenge and if one person moved, it ruined the take. The lead singer had was incredible and had to move in slow motion around the nightclub, so it was really his performance that made it what it is.

Really great video. The artists performance was awesome, big props to him for going all out on that. The time remapping was great as well, so was the choreography. For not having much of a budget, you pulled off a great video. Fit the song beautifully.
