  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I got my Sonnet Echo Express Pro

Hey guys, after swapping the MBP to MBP Retina, the result is amazing on this system.

With 2.7GHz i7, 750GB SSD, 16GB RAM, RED ROCKET in the Sonnet Echo Express Pro, Blackmagic UltraStudio 3D can give you solid playback up to 30frame/sec with 10bit Half good in the Resolve 9.

Just don't upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.82
 
Why no Mountain Lion? I'm building the exact same set up: MBP Retina, Sonnet Echo Express Pro, R-Rocket, and Ultra Studio Express.
What are you running into?
Also, with this setup, will you get decent rendering rendering r3d's from DaVinci Resolve 9?
 
LJ Kim.. i just put some 5k footage into Resolve (5k WS 5:1) and while I could only get 17fps playback (weird? ) it was rendering out prores 422hq 1920 files at 24-29fps.

having a couple of issues as of late.

I'm running my rocket along with a sonnet 4EP card in my sonnet echo pro. I'm shooting in a cold environment (eastern washington, inside, quite a few dust particles) and as of this week (week 2 of 3) I'm getting kernel panics when I start an export, sometimes even when scrubbing through footage.

I've noticed redcinex pro 16 (beta) is lagging sometimes and not even letting me exit it when I don't have the rocket even plugged in.

This is on a new retina macbook pro running 10.8.1.

I tried running the rocket without the esata connections (card was still in the enclosure) but had a lacie esata hub. It will get through one transcode but panic on the 2nd and reboot the computer.

Little worried here, should I re-install the rocket firmware? get rid of the sonnet 4ep card? can weather affect the rocket in such a way?

I have that setup and get about 12-19 frames when exporting from resolve. I think that's a limitation of the gpu on export. I do get realtime playback in the color tab with the rocket at 5k half debayer set in resolve.
