  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I can't stop giving Jim Jannard money, apparently.

This will be of little interest to most but...

First it was a Scarlet-X Al package with a few other RED amenities thrown in for good measure.

Now, it's a pair of Oakley prescription eyeglass frames - DRILL BIT - in matte black. I didn't even know Oakley made everyday eyewear until I walked into the store - I've never paid that much attention to the company. In hindsight, it seems obvious they would.

Since I don't have a picture of my Scarlet to show, I give you this instead (and yes, I look rather dashing in them if I do say so myself):

You're not. You are giving it to Luxottica. Oakley was sold to the Italian firm, Luxottica Group S.p.A., in 2007 for around 2 Billiion Dollars in a cash transaction.

Thanks for the info.

Well, like I said, I never paid much attention to the company. The frames are very nice. Cheers, Luxottica.

That still doesn't change my original sentiment...I'm looking at getting the REDMOTE (among other things) before the price goes up.

Look at it this way: If Jim didn't sell Oakley to Luxottica, chances are you would be waiting a lot longer for your REDMOTE.

I have been wearing Oakley Wiretap RX frames for years now. Probably close to 10 years. Total maintenance required: I had to get 1 screw tightened once. Other than that they live on my face.

Don't think I bought a pair since Jim sold them thought...

Indeed.

On a side note, it came down to two choices - the Oakley Drill Bit or a pair of Ray-Ban frames which, as it turns, are also owned by Luxottica.
