  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I AM REALLY GETTING CRAZY PLEASE HELP!

All my machines are on Sierra. Do you by any chance have FX Factory?

Hi Scot I have only few pixel film studio plug ins and motionvfx lut package I even removed color finale.

I would put sierra on an external bootable disk with only FCP X installed.
Then, boit your mac from the new clean install too see if you have any problems.

Also. I would remove all ghird party codecs from the QT codecs in tge library. I think you have a codec in there that might be creating a vonflict.

I think I need to reinstall the OS but it eill be a pain...

Luca, just for grins, I would do this as a troubleshooting measure. Go into the Movies folder on your boot drive and find the folder titled Motion Templates. Drag it out of the finder and on the to the desktop. Make sure FCPX is not running when you do this. Then start up FCPX and try your Helium footage. If it still doesn't work you can essentially rule out all your plugins. Close final cut then drag the folder back into place. I still think Phil is onto something with regards to RAM.

Thanks Scot thanks all of you guys I really appreciate your time helping me. Going to bed now but tomorrow I will try to move the fooder as you say so if will work (i hope) it mean that some plug in is the problem...otherwise if is ram what I jeed to do? Maybe will be better first to reinstall OS? Before taking the Imac to apple? Also I have some works to do after Christmas and I will be in trouble if I dont have my Imac, I can use 4k prores in the meantime but in the sametime the idea to have a system woth issue scares me likencrazy! Lol

What kind of hardware are you using?

To tell you the truth, I'm not impressed by the built-in correction in FCPX, Premiere, or Avid. I think you're much better-served by using standalone color-correction software like Baselight, Lustre, Mistika, Nucoda, Pablo, or Resolve. Don't forget that the low-end version of Resolve is free.

I just did a quick test doing a video in 5K FF with Epic W and importing I see the same pink frame BUT if I import a scarlet W 5K FF file it works good! This is what make me crazy!!!!

Have you tried using resolve? It's free. Does it work there? And RedCine X?
Does FCPX have a proxy workflow?
Maybe for now you can edit in proxies and finish in redcine or resolve?

Jaime ues I have redcine and is ok but still I dont know what is going on ... :(

I'm guessing it's a bug in FCPx. That can't handle the Helium sensor. Best thing to do is send an e-mail to apple to explain the situation. Probably they will come with a patch asap. Because I've read there are more people with this problem.

HI Jaimy well some people said that tey have my same configuration and works...other people they said have my same problem....this is crazy...anyway just tested my FCPX to the max...I added a 4k pro res video, plus 3d titles, plus music it was super fast...

Also, I edited a Scarlet W file in FCPX (R3D) and was super quick...

I even downloaded files from Red.com Raven Files R3D and imported and mixed on the timeline with Scarlet W files, edited quickly and exported super fast in FCPX no issue!!

But as soon I try to import Helium files is goes crazy!

The as soon I import the helium files it crash....

If was the RAM I don't think it shuld work with anything right????

So I suppose the red workflow need to be updated? Any Red Team here that can give me an answer? Thanks all of you for helping and understanding....this has become a MISTERY!!!

I will delete this post shortly.

... Is anyone else getting redirected to Spam sites when clicking on URL links in REDUser?
(eg click on the link in the above post)

(Just trying three different computers --> same result)

Trying not to disrupt this thread, but seems there was a glitch here on the forums and Jason has fixed this.

I don't use FCPX but if you're having issues in FCPX and also in RedCine now and these are hardware GPU messages then i would look at your Mac itself. It could be something software based, and creating a new boot drive just to test may be an idea or you could have some kind of hardware issue on your mac.

I'd suggest a clean new system install on another clean drive with just FCPx and RedCine to see if that works. If it doesn't then see if you can try someone elses Mac.

Sounds frustrating but this is technology and you just have to be methodical with it

cheers

HI Guys, thanks just been at the phone with Apple for 2 hours...they have no idea...the guy installed same configuration I have on his Mac and worked fine...he said that if was a Ram or GPU problem it also affect other things not only FCPX. We also resetted the Vram but nothing.....so the only thing I have to do is to reinstall the OS on my computer but I can't do right now as I have some works to finish in prores (which works fine)

The frustrating thing is that WHY dragon files works and helium files not, I suppose something in the plug in has crashed or has been deleted somehow??? If was a gpu or ram problem it should do that also with others files!
6k Helium Dont' work
6k Dragon works perfectly!

I am shattered...a week behind this issue.....

But it's not just FCPx is it? RedCine is also throwing errors which is why i think it's more about your set up. You could download and try a trial version of Premiere Pro, this opens 8K R3D files no problem. That would add another test to try.

As i mentioned if you can get an external drive and install a fresh system on that then you can keep your current work and system going and at least verify whether it's a system OS issue or whether it's actually a hardware issue. Don't delete anything you've got going on now but sandbox it as a separate test.

I would guess driver issues and i think a quick install onto a brand new drive, start up on that and test and you'll find it working. If not then time to get a new mac!

cheers

Hi Paul I think after I finish with this work going on I will reinstall the OS so that all will be overwrotten and hopefully the drivers too. Btw I bought this Imac only last year :(
