  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hyperdeck Shuttle file naming duplicates and Avid.

is there any way to use Automate (in Mac) to rename the files generated by the Hyperdeck so that they match the original R3D ones?

Automate would need to parse the files on both sides to ensure they reflect each other, then name accordingly.

If all you're looking for is a renaming utility, then look into "Better Rename 9" which gives you a lot more options, as well as the ability to preview the changes before committing etc. But that being said, you still need some intelligence to know which file is the master to the proxy and copy that to the proxy. Something this utility doesn't do.

Has anyone come up with a solution to the Hyperdeck Shuttle2 "resetting to 0 everytime I change the Mag" problem?

Our Sound Devices PIX240 pulls actual R3D clip names from the HD-SDI tap from RED and ALEXA and names it from that. Perfect matching except for the start delay of a few seconds. I guess I always assumed BMD would be at least as on it as Sound Devices!

Otherwise, the very free and simple Automator.app that comes with all Macs should get you up in no time for simple renaming.

You'll need these two actions:
--------------------

Get Finder Items

Re-Name Finder Items

--------------------

You can just add the roll number to the head of each file. I think it would even work with separate audio / video MXF as long as they still all match. You'll need to verify that last bit with an AVID editor!

Be careful when you first start using it and practice on some useless copies before rolling it out on a production.

Best luck
