I just picked one up. Great was of recording prores422HQ proxies for under $350. Will record the 24p native signal from epic or scarlet, into native 24p prores, none of that 60i crap. With all the accessories came out to $700, including mounting plate, ssd, cables and power adapters. Should mount cleanly on the tactical rib, or hover up above the top plate nicely. You can also mount a battery plate to it, and use it as an intermediate plate if you like to keep your battery off to the side. When it arrives tomorrow will post up possible configurations. This will make my life so much easier on shoots where I need a quick turn around.

Looking forward to seeing your configurations Timur. I picked one up as well last week for a music video shoot. It was definitely a nice time saver.
Quick question though, what power adapters did you pick up? How are you powering it?
Thanks in advance.

i thought there was a pulldown issue, what about other framerates other than 24p any issues?

What will the quality of the 1080p output be from this in comparison to R3D's taken through the usual down-coversion route?

Scott

The camera does a full debayer out so it should be 10bit422. You are stuck with RG3, redlogfilm, or RG2, unless you use a custom curve loaded into the camera.

same have claimed it's a bit cleaner out of the sdi than from the r3d since you are skipping r3d compression. would be interested to see the uncompressed recording on the hyperdeck side by side with a 5:1 r3d...

Totally picking one up today. Been waiting for them to put the ProRes in. Don't know how I missed this.

Instead of shooting with the pix240 (giving me extra weight and hassle) I sometimes just playback (automatically triggers/records on playback) at the end to the day into the pix for realtime transcode (even though it's only 422). Need to do this for slowmo anyway. Could one do the same with the hyperdeck shuttle 2?

This is genius, hope someone out there can test this on their Hyperdeck 2! :yesnod:

Prores must be a recent addition-- wasn't there last time I updated my Shuttle II firmware-- checked maybe a month or so ago?

In any case, it is quite a workhorse for the price. Nice just to have a backup or for quick turnarounds as you said. Pair it w/ the mounting plate and you can throw it on your rig in all sorts of ways. I'm using it with the WC battery slide which is quite an awesome and flexible piece itself.

(sorry for crappy phone pic but you get the idea)
