Ok so the Sunday just gone, I shot. directed. edited a piece for a clothing line

It was all pretty much based around and on Brighton Beach UK

I have never been there before so I did all my research & treatment writing online from google
saving pictures and reference points etc

My main main worry was...dum dum dum (battery life)

I have 4 V-lock batteries and 2 Redvolts
Normally on my music video shoots, this isn't a problem as on set, or near by
there are power points so I can just swap and charge all day til need be

Other worry was mags, only have 2 64GB but i knew they only take about 25min tops to offload

The last worry was...gear gear gear, tripods, jibs, camera, lenses, batteries, reflectors, dollys...and with a bizzy long beach like brighton...how the hell am I going to get all my gear from one side of the beach, from the other
with 4 other cars following if we choose to park and park and park again, it'd be more money and still a way to travel from the car park
So I got this badboy for £50 from MachineMart (I'm sure other car places will also sell something similar)

worked and treat and saved my ass (oh, don't forget to buy straps...one bump and bye bye gear haha)

So...me worrying I bought these portable 200watts wireless chargers for Laptops, phones, batteries etc
I got mine in Maplins but I'm sure other companies will do something similar

The first shoot was in this cool Laundrematte i found (hoping there would be power in there) but NO! ha

So after the first Redvolt was dead...whacked it in the charger from Maplins, it re-charged it back to 3 bars but...
now the Maplins charger was dead (you'll know when its dead too, cuz it makes a screaming sound)

So basically, the 2 maplins chargers re-charged both my Redvolts nearly full
Plan was, redvolts die, re-charge with marlins charger til both are dead...then use v-locks

but...i panicked too much
as after the shoot/day finished, I realised ...i would have been fine with 2 redvolts then using all 4 v-locks

Why am I babbling on too much
1. sorry
2. just in case someone else gets into a similar situation

So here is the piece i shot. directed. edited
and...I love my RED

Very cool man! Great grading! I like the smooth shots in the middle much better than the hand held in the beginning. ;) What were you using, steadicam or glidecam type rig?

I too was worried about my battery situation initially. I've found that I've never used more than 4 red bricks and 2 redvolts in a day, which is pretty awesome! If you have power to charge with you can get away with 2 bricks, one redvolt for continuous usage if your charging.
