  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hydrogen looks cool, but...

When will there be a RED designed manufactured built-in legit ND system or module available for our RED cameras?

When will we have the ability to record great audio internally from our cameras?

Just saying... I feel like these have been requests for years now with no new news....

These I want the most from DSMC3. Built in ND filters, better audio in camera and double the frame rates.
Jarred? Can you tell us one news from DSMC3 cameras, just one please? :-)

The motion mount has been around for five years. One just went for $999.99 on eBay. It's pretty legit and definitely a module.

The OMOD XLR2 is supposed to offer better audio quality. It's definitely for sale too.

I wouldn't count on getting built-in ND on DSMC3 since Red could have built the motion mount tech into DSMC2 and didn't. Hopefully Red has a flip-away internal motion mount by now.

While the thought of a motion mount being integrated into a DSMC3 brain does sound appealing, that would come at a cost.

The physics of the motion mount results in a minimum light loss of 1.6 stops.
(From the manual, 0.48 Optical density).

Hence, having the motion mount available as a removable unit adds to the overall feature set of the camera.

No, they could have it flip away, or it could be integrated like an OLPF, or they could have invented a more transparent LCD.

The biggest reason Red wouldn't integrated it is if it wouldn't be able to be repaired in the field.

You can get a set of ND OLPFs that apparently work great.

A built in ND wheel sure does sound amazing though for DSMC3. And yep, I’m enjoying my Hydrogen as well. Took it into Verizon today to get a new phone number as a spare contact and a few of the employees were playing with it.
