Hybrid Top handle / microphone mount

No don't do this, mics have no buisiness being on a camera.....

You don't use any guide track at all? In this day and age it seems like a straight forward thing to have. We record to our sound devices for location sound.

Ha ha...plenty of uses to have a mic on-camera. That's why MOST come with one. I can't wait for RED to come out with a button mic that will give us at least enough for a guide track. For now, try this combination:

This can mount right off one of the holes on the top handle.

Then, connect a hot shoe mic clip like this:

I've been figuring out a similar setup and these seem like they'll work well. I have the Wooden Camera deal. Killer little item to have in your kit, just in case.
