  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hue test, how good are you!

I just scored zero, it said:

Online ColorIQ Challenge Results
You have perfect color vision!
FM Hue Test Results
A lower score is better, with ZERO being the perfect score. The bars above show the regions of the color spectrum where hue discrimination is low.

.. I'm, er, perfect at something.. wahay!!

Awesome. I am happy with my measly 7! :) I'll blame it on my Apple laptop display and feel better about myself :P Hehe.

So a score of 101 isn't good? ;-) Guess I'll have to give up my dream of being a colorist. Right...

Haha! I have no idea what the ranges mean. Apparently the worst score for guys my age was in the thousands. Don't want that guy coloring my film! :)

I guess I am in fact in the right line of work

Not bad for an old man

Zero! : ) but I did have to squint and use glasses. 4 years ago I didn't need glasses but 3 years editing a weekly show on a computer has done it for my near vision. Glad to know my colors are spot on : )

24, but can i blame my monitor? :-D

Yes, I did the test a while back using my 6-year old Apple 30" LCD. Got a score of 3. Then I got my HP Dreamcolor a few days later and got a perfect 0!

You can definitely blame the monitor if you are using an ancient LCD.

OK, well I got 7. Not too shabby.
And this was using a rubbish old IBM flat screen monitor.

Your score: 7
Gender: Male
Age range: <censored!>
Best score for your gender and age range: 0
Highest score for your gender and age range: 1344

Did it on one monitor and got a 95. Moved to another monitor and got a 3.

One could interpret the results this way; If you don't know enough to take the test on a correctly calibrated system, then you deserve a score of 1000. ;-)

I'm with Mitch, a good night's rest and a good monitor makes all the difference! I am colorblind and so my first score of 101 didn't surprise me, but that was on my laptop at 2:00 am. Thought I'd try it again and scored a 29, which is in my view great. I've always known strong proper lighting is key to getting accurate color and I've been able to go on press checks and judge color. But we always have a QC room with a MacBeth viewing station or similar setup.

Also read a good post about taking colorblind tests online as being less than accurate, so it's more of a game. FWIW, my second try was on my Apple 24" external LCD which is "WAY" brighter. Helps my eyes to judge better.

To quote Stan Freberg: "Is all how you look at it".
