Several people have been asking me to post some examples between the Panasonic HPX300 and Sony EX3 rolling shutter. Check out this video and you decide: http://vimeo.com/3367266

I know I'll be burned at the stake, but the Red has some fairly serious rolling shutter issues as well. I just finished a feature with it, and I was surprised how often and how pronounced the skew is.
I love the camera, but it does have skew.

Can you post some extreme examples from the footage you shot?
Only has to be short clips.
Here is a quick couple of grabs. I keep a folder of skew examples as I'm working through selections.
I was hesitant to get into the debate. Kind of already wished I didn't, but sometimes I get frustrated when I see folks make fun of some DSLR or other camera because of skew, knowing that I often see it in my Red footage.
I've mentioned this on another forum.. but I love the Red and am grateful for the level of production value it has given my latest work. I just think we can be fans and still speak truths. It is a first generation camera after all.
BTW - this was not a hyper fast camera move. You can see it in the white edge of the shower curtain just in front of the actresses hand/wrist. And the yellow edge of the outer curtain near the edge of frame left.
Cheers,
Chris
I don't see any at all in the EX3. There's lens distortion in the upper left of the EX3 shot accentuated by the Zacuto signage that grabs your eye, but it's the lens, not the camera.
not too sure why this is even posted. to show us how a camera were probably not going to buy doesn't perform well? thanks?
